Emma Mulholland

Emma Mulholland is a graduate student from Australia who studied there. I do really love Australian designers. they use a lot more colour and have kind of a beach vibe to their collections obviously living in a hot country and getting to go the beach everyday would influence their designs.
This is Emma's graduate collection. It has kind of a surfer/ beach type feel to it, she has used shells and sequins and ribbons. Her work is certainly noticeable. The colours are bright and bold, the mix of different textiles used is brave, but works well in my opinion and her prints are the best thing about her work. I used her work as inspiration for my Sea Odyssey brief in college, I thought it worked well as my inspiration was the coral and plants underwater. I tried to make my final garment as something you quite possibly could see fitting in with her collection, my garment turned out well.

Marit Fujiwara

Marit Fujiwara is a Textile graduate from Chelsea college of Art and design. She graduated in 2009. These images are from her graduate collection titled 'WOUND'.
Everything from the mix of materials, the colours, the machine embroidery - they all just make for an amazing collection. The first time I saw the first image of a dress I have posted I thought it was paints and paper, I then looked at the up close images and realised a lot of hard work has gone into each of her samples and pieces. I love the idea of singling out only parts of the material and coving the rest in embroidery making the other bits stand out. I haven't saw any of her research and inspiration for this collection but I can already see that parts of the images do look like the types of things you would see on or in the body - in a lot more pleasant and decorative way. I would say she is one of my favourite textile designs as her work is unlike any others I have seen, I can only hope my textile work is as unique and amazing as hers.

Ibiza Nights

Marie Claire South Africa December 2011
Yula T
shot by Danielle Midenge

So I came across this spread, labelled Ibiza nights. I immediately began to smile. Hopefully I am going to Ibiza next summer with my friends, and the reminder of this was just what I needed due to the horrific weather we are experiencing now. I do love the winter but when you can't even walk the bus stop in a straight line because of the strong wind and rain, then that is when I start looking forward to the summer. I think we are always looking ahead. Especially in fashion.
So yeah, I love the beauty of Yula T in these images, and I love her hair! Beautiful.

Lovisa Ekholm by Jesse Laitnen for Fashion Gone Rogue

I haven't done a post in a while, does anyone even read my blog?? I need to change it up, not only on my blog but in my life as well.  I'm currently up to my neck in college work! I have like 5 projects on the go. I'm really really enjoying it, I just don't have much spare time but who needs spare time when you can be learning about fashion! :) I guess if I had more spare time my blog would be a lot better but oh well I guess I'll live. So yeah for some reason I have a really strange obsession with blonde hair. I just love it, I myself have got brown hair at the moment with kind of the dip dye effect dark blonde at the bottom ah this is what I mean I need to change it up, I could upload photos of my hair and what not. I need to  get my own photographs on this blog ASAP, I'm going to ask my mum to buy me a SLR camera and hoping she says ok, fingers crossed!! But  I desperately want amazing long blonde beautiful hair! So I come across this shoot with model Lovisa Ekholm who has got the most amazing hair and I think the styling of the shoot fabulous! Love these images.

Photographer Jesse Laitnen and stylist Tove Öberg-Runfors reunite for a sleek studio shoot lensed for Fashion Gone Rogue. Starring new face Lovisa Ekholm in strong silhouettes from labels such as H&M, Acne and Malen Birger, the images are a lesson in minimalist glamour with a contrast of dark and light colors. Lovisa’s sharp looks are completed with teased tresses by Sherin F and ultra-feminine makeup by Alexandra Olsson.

Missoni Details

Upclose I love this Missoni collection, interesting knitwear, pretty prints, pastel colours but zoom out and it just doesn't do it for me. I really don't like the proportions, the python coats or boots, the layering, some of the hats, the way in which the majority of the outfits have been put together - it just all seems too much. Which kinda makes me a little sad because I just love the details of the garments and some individual pieces! The jumpers with the intertwined detail are amazing, in fact most of the knitwear if not all of it from this collection is amazing especially the range of colours used for it, I know I wish I owned a Missoni jumper. It's just a shame I don't like everything else or this would have been a magical collection.
